SHANGHAI, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- The man who died after setting himself ablaze in Shanghai's historic riverside Bund area on Thursday has been identified as a local retired worker named He Rulong, local police said on Friday. 自焚男子是上海一退休工人，名叫何鲁龙（音译），62岁。He Rulong, retired factory worker, was 62-years-old when he killed himselfA Shanghai Public Security Bureau official said He Rulong suffered from back pains and was a known alcoholic. He worked in the northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the 1960's and returned to Shanghai in the 1980's to work in a factory in the Yangpu District in Shanghai. 60年代在新疆工作，80年代返回上海，在杨埔区一工厂工作。Sources close to He said he divorced his wife 30 years ago and had little contact with his daughter. They also said he lived withhis cousin in suburban Chongming County in Shanghai. He Rulong poured gas on his body and then lit himself on fire in a square named after Chen Yi, a late marshal of the Chinese People's Liberation Army beside the Huangpu River, around 11 a.m. on Thursday. The Bund is a big draw for tourists as well as Shanghai residents.
